I have a chair in our cocktail library that came from my brother that came from a neighbor and has been recovered at least once since it was made by JC Penny in 1976. That’s older than me. I also wrote about enough once (http://rohresramblings.blogspot.com/2009/05/theology-of-consumption.html?m=1). This made me think about it, immediately. What’s below the words to me (whether in my words or your’s) is a theology. What’s enough? How do we square what we have, where we are, what we’re doing with what we’re made to be. Grateful that I stumbled on this tonight. I miss conversations with thoughtful friends like you.

Aaron, what a delight and surprise to hear from you. And can I just say that a "cocktail library" sound like the coolest room ever, and especially with that great chair.

And yes - the theology of "enough" is the real question.... I'm working on a book-length piece that will explore that in depth. How do we even define "enough" - and why does it matter so much to us, given who we are and Who God is?

I hope you and Lacey and the kids are doing well! All my best to you.

I always love reading your words. It's always you on a page. Calm, sweet, genuine kindness you so generously share. I did have one small point where I, again, thought, how does she still... or how is she able to still feel a sense of one "being?" As you know, from our chats, I do admire, but will always question and wonder. We need to chat more.

Thank you, Rebecca. I have a love seat that came from Howells in McKinney. It's been with us for 35 years. Maybe a redo is what it needs to stay with me a while longer. We are enough - you, me and our chairs.

OMG, I remember Howells! Yes, we are enough... and, it's a delicate business, determining what belongs, what needs to stay, what we need to say "Thank you and Goodbye!" to. I know this -- i miss seeing you and your sweet family! Hugs to all!
